Ce domaine est la tête de pont de la famille Trapet en Alsace, Andrée Trapet (l’épouse de Jean-Louis) étant originaire de Beblenheim, à côté de Riquewihr. Si toute la famille s’implique ici, c’est Pierre, l’un des deux fils, qui mène en particulier une viticulture pointue (vignes conduites en échalas, plantations en franc de pied, agro-pastoralisme avec la présence de moutons dans les vignes l’hiver, etc.). De superbes raisins ainsi que des vinifications minimalistes donnent ici de superbes expressions de terroirs. Le domaine compte désormais parmi les très grands en Alsace.
