Nez très pur d’agrumes confits (mandarine et citron vert), la bouche offre certes un résiduel bien présent mais la minéralité du terroir développe de très beaux amers équilibrants, avec même une fin mentholée et poivrée rafraîchissante, superbe et promis à un bel avenir. Attendre que son résiduel se fonde (40 g/l), ou l’apprécier en l’état.

Autour de Westhoffen, les terroirs alternent entre grès, calcaires du Muschelkalk et marnes de différentes couleurs (noires, rouges ou vertes), ce qui évidemment confère aux différentes cuvées du domaine des saveurs différentes. Sur ses 13 hectares de vignes, cultivées en biodynamie depuis 2009, Étienne Loew et son épouse Caroline travaillent avec soin, labourant certaines parcelles au cheval et laissant les fermentations se dérouler parfois longtemps. Cela donne des vins d’artiste, souvent plus expressifs en bouche qu’au nez, notamment sur les terroirs de grès.
