Le terroir de marnes noires de cette cuvée donne toujours un vin fermé dans sa jeunesse. Le nez est discret avec un fruité très net, la bouche est ample, veloutée et très saline, avec une longue finale sur les épices. Une belle définition pour ce vin minéral, qui vieillira très bien.

Autour de Westhoffen, les terroirs alternent entre grès, calcaires du Muschelkalk et marnes de différentes couleurs (noires, rouges ou vertes), ce qui évidemment confère aux différentes cuvées du domaine des saveurs différentes. Sur ses 13 hectares de vignes, cultivées en biodynamie depuis 2009, Étienne Loew et son épouse Caroline travaillent avec soin, labourant certaines parcelles au cheval et laissant les fermentations se dérouler parfois longtemps. Cela donne des vins d’artiste, souvent plus expressifs en bouche qu’au nez, notamment sur les terroirs de grès.
