Nez très mûr, jus de fruits exotiques, bouche onctueuse, on croit la tension moins présente que dans les autres rieslings mais la sensation est trompeuse, la belle salinité en finale va prendre de l’ampleur.

Autour de Westhoffen, les terroirs alternent entre grès, calcaires du Muschelkalk et marnes de différentes couleurs (noires, rouges ou vertes), ce qui évidemment confère aux différentes cuvées du domaine des saveurs différentes. Sur ses 13 hectares de vignes, cultivées en biodynamie depuis 2009, Étienne Loew et son épouse Caroline travaillent avec soin, labourant certaines parcelles au cheval et laissant les fermentations se dérouler parfois longtemps. Cela donne des vins d’artiste, souvent plus expressifs en bouche qu’au nez, notamment sur les terroirs de grès.
